I’m a correspondent with Al Jazeera English, reporting from frontline crisis zones and conflict theatres around the world — from Iran to Ukraine, and across the Middle East, South Asia and Southeast Asia. My work focuses on people living through war, displacement and political upheaval, bringing audiences unfiltered insight into the human stories behind global headlines.
I was born and raised in Birmingham, UK, and I’m currently based in Doha, Qatar. Reporting internationally has shaped my understanding of how global events ripple across borders, societies and communities — often in ways that are not immediately visible from the headlines alone.
Over the past decade, I’ve covered major conflicts, insurgencies and humanitarian crises, producing written dispatches, live reporting, feature documentaries and in-depth analysis seen by millions worldwide.
I’ve reported from some of the world’s most complex and volatile environments, including:
My journalism looks beyond events to the people caught inside them — families navigating displacement, civilians living under bombardment, and communities trying to rebuild amid uncertainty. I aim to report with rigor, context and compassion, while maintaining editorial independence and clarity.
Before joining Al Jazeera English, I worked with international newsrooms including Channel 4 News and TRT World, and was shortlisted as Journalist of the Year at the Asian Media Awards for my reporting as Iran correspondent during a period of heightened geopolitical tension.
Outside the newsroom, I’m a father and a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and coach. I’ve competed in international BJJ competitions and won gold medals at regional and international level. The discipline and composure developed through martial arts strongly inform my approach to journalism — staying calm under pressure, making clear decisions in chaotic environments, and working with respect and humility.
